Waymo today

As of March 2026, Waymo has significantly expanded its footprint, now operating in 10 major U.S. metropolitan areas across four states.

While the service is widely available in core cities like Phoenix and San Francisco, newer cities often operate via a “Waitlist” or “Early Access” model to manage demand.

Upcoming Expansions (2026 Roadmap)

Waymo is currently testing or has announced service for the following locations:

  • Active Testing: Chicago (IL), Charlotte (NC), Buffalo (NY), New York City (NY), Philadelphia (PA), and Washington, D.C.
  • Announced for Late 2026: Las Vegas (NV), Nashville (TN), Detroit (MI), and Denver (CO).
  • International: Waymo has recently signaled plans to launch in London and Tokyo by the end of this year.
